O'Connor Pump Station Stormwater Management Improvements
The O'Connor Pump Station is located on the San Francisquito Creek Levee in the southeast portion of the City and provides flood protection for low-lying residential areas. The pump station, which was originally constructed in 1984 by the County of San Mateo, currently serves as the City's only pump station and is responsible for draining a majority of the City.
In an effort to continue providing service to and safeguarding our neighborhoods, extensive routine maintenance and upgrades will be made to the O'Connor Pump Station, which will be broken down into two phases. The following upgrades are being made as part of Phase I of the O'Connor Pump Stations Improvements project:
- Underground Diesel Storage Tank Upgrades
- Pumping Capacity Upgrades
- Wet Well Hydraulic Improvements
- Ventilation Upgrades
- Electrical Capacity Upgrades
The design of the Phase I improvements at the O'Connor Pump Station is currently in progress. A copy of the most recent design plans can be found in the attachments below. The design of the Phase II improvements will take place in the future after the Phase I improvements have been constructed.
The City of East Palo Alto received Community Project Funding of $1.355 million as part of the 2022 Federal Budget, which was signed by President Biden on Friday, March 11. Of this total, $800,000 will be allocated for the construction of the O’Connor Pump Station Stormwater Management Improvements.
