Our office at 1960 Tate Street is open to the public Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9am-3:45pm (office closed during lunch hour from 12pm-1pm). Applicants may book a virtual appointment for Wednesdays or Fridays. You can book your appointment by visiting here:

Role and Mission of Public Works

The mission of the Public Works Department is to preserve, enhance and promote quality of life and public safety through the responsible development of reliable and sustainable infrastructure and services. The members of this Department will at all times strive to exhibit the following qualities:

East Palo Alto’s Public Works Department handles the following services: 

  • Transportation and traffic planning
  • Pavement and concrete operations and maintenance
  • Street light and street sign operations
  • Parks, trees and open space management
  • Capital Improvement Program, engineering services
  • City facilities maintenance

Public Works Divisions

 

Engineering Services

Designs and constructs City-owned facilities, streets, sidewalks, storm drains and parks infrastructure; provides engineering support to City Departments and the private development community for construction in the public right of way.

Operations and Maintenance

Maintains City-owned and leased structures, streets, sidewalks, storm drains, street signage and the City’s fleet.
