Dear [City Council Member's],

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the deteriorating condition of Green Street, particularly in light of the ongoing sewage pipe replacement project. As a resident of Green Street, I am witnessing firsthand the hazards posed by the combination of road disrepair and the absence of necessary safety measures.

The state of Green Street has reached a critical point with numerous potholes, cracks, and sinking areas that not only compromise the safety of vehicles but also pose a significant threat to pedestrians, including school children who use the road daily. The ongoing sewage pipe replacement project, while essential, raises apprehensions about exacerbating the already precarious condition of the road upon completion.

Furthermore, the absence of sidewalks is a glaring issue, especially given the high speeds at which vehicles traverse the area. The safety of our residents, particularly children walking to and from school and utilizing bus stops on Green Street, is at a serious risk. The lack of appropriate pedestrian infrastructure is not only inconvenient but also jeopardizes lives, and it is imperative that immediate action be taken to rectify this situation.

I kindly request the City Council to consider the following measures:

  • Comprehensive Road Repair: Initiate a thorough inspection of Green Street and allocate funds for a comprehensive road repair project that addresses potholes, cracks, sinking, and any damage resulting from the sewage pipe replacement.
  • Pedestrian Infrastructure: Implement the installation of sidewalks on both sides of Green Street to ensure the safety of pedestrians, particularly school children, and residents using the road.
  • Traffic Calming Measures: Introduce speed bumps along Green Street to deter speeding and promote a safer environment for residents, especially considering the proximity to school zones.

I believe that the implementation of these measures will not only enhance the overall safety of Green Street but also contribute to the well-being and peace of mind of its residents. I am confident that my concerns are shared by many other residents who, like myself, prioritize the safety of their families and community.

I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss these matters further and offer any assistance or collaboration that may be required. I am optimistic that, with the City Council's prompt attention, we can collaboratively work towards creating a safer and more livable environment for all residents of Green Street.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I eagerly await your response and action on this matter.

Sincerely,

Bryan Beare
