University Avenue and Weeks Street 12'' Water Transmission Main Project

With the recent increase in water supply allocation, essential improvements to the City’s water distribution system are needed to provide additional flow, storage, redundancy, and reliability. These improvements are intended to protect the health and safety of East Palo Alto residents.The University Avenue and Weeks Street 12'' Water Transmission Main Project will increase water capacity to the City. This will help address the need to meet potential emergency water supply shortfall and future water demands.

Construction began early 2024.

May 2025: The contractor is continuing to install service connections, plans to prepare pressure test then the crew will begin connecting the new water main, services, and hydrants to make the new system active. Landscape and Median Restoration work is underway. Striping and Micro-seal will be done by end of the month. The latest project schedule estimates completion in June/July 2025.
