Late Thursday morning, August 27, 2026, an armed robbery occurred in the 2500 block of Fordham Street in East Palo Alto.
The suspect, later identified as twenty-one-year-old, East Palo Alto resident Luis Alberto Vargasjuarez, robbed an East Palo Alto woman of cash and other valuables at gunpoint. Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the robbery.
The East Palo Alto Police Department immediately leapt into action using both patrol officers and detectives to solve this case. The suspect was located by East Palo Alto Police patrol officers and taken into custody a short time after the robbery in a parking area in the 1700 block of East Bayshore Road in East Palo Alto, without further incident.
Vargasjuarez was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
