Crisis Clinician Services

Clinician Linda Allen

The East Palo Alto Police Department has a crisis clinician who works alongside officers to respond to community members experiencing mental health, emotional, or substance-related crises.

The crisis clinician may provide:

Mental health and safety assessments

Suicide-risk assessments and crisis intervention

De-escalation and emotional support

Assistance during welfare checks

Referrals to counseling, treatment, and community programs

Support for individuals and families after a crisis

Coordination with hospitals, behavioral health providers, and community agencies

Follow-up services when appropriate

The crisis clinician also helps officers better understand mental health conditions and identify alternatives that may reduce unnecessary arrests or emergency-room visits. Services are based on each person’s needs and the circumstances of the call.

To request assistance during an active mental health crisis, contact the East Palo Alto Police Department. Crisis clinician availability may vary.
