Bay Road Improvements Project Construction

The Bay Road Improvements project includes underground and above ground improvements along Bay Road from Clarke Avenue to the Cooley Landing entrance; and on Pulgas Avenue from Bay Road to Weeks Street. The project began in the Summer of 2020 and is expected to be completed by October 2021.

As of August 2021 the project update is as follows:

Over the course of the previous couple of months the project has faced a number of delays due to significant utility conflicts with the proposed waterline and storm drain systems. These delays have caused impacts to the project schedule and has further pushed out the tentative completion date to the end of October 2021. There is still approximately 300 feet of storm drain and 600 feet of waterline that needs to be installed on site. Upon the completion of the underground work, the street surface improvements can begin, and the project is expected to move swiftly.

The contractor continued the following operations in the field:

  • Continued excavation and installation of the storm drain lateral connections on Pulgas Avenue
  • Continued excavation and installation of the new storm drain systems on Bay Road between Pulgas Avenue and Clarke Avenue
  • Continued excavation and installation of new waterline on Bay Road from Pulgas toward Clarke
  • Continued the dewatering operation throughout the system for underground work
  • Installed traffic control and daily lane closure & parking restriction on Bay Road for installation of the storm drain system and various other items of work
  • Continued the potholing operation

Look Ahead for Next Month

  • Continue installation the main waterline, tie-ins, and service connections on Bay Road
