The City of East Palo Alto is seeking qualified contractors to provide on-call and emergency tree maintenance services for its urban forest of approximately 7,500 street trees. Services include tree pruning, tree cutting, complete tree removal, and stump grinding at locations citywide — including residential parkways, medians, parks, and public spaces — as directed by the City's Maintenance Division Manager. Contract Terms
- Initial term of 5 years, with up to two 1-year renewal options
- Pricing based on unit rates by tree DBH (diameter at breast height); emergency work billed hourly
- Annual price adjustments after year two, capped at 4.5% based on SF Bay Area CPI-U
- Monthly invoicing; payment within 30 days of receipt
Contractor Requirements
- Active C-49 or D-49 contractor license (C-27 if applicable); DIR registration required
- On-site supervisor with minimum 5 years' experience required at all job sites
- Background checks and drug/alcohol policy required for all personnel
- Prevailing wages apply; subcontracting requires prior City approval
